Transport and Logistics

Transport & Logistics Licence Types

Ritchie’s Training Centre offer a complete range of transport and logistic driving courses. From simple car driving licence to passenger vehicles and on to rigid and articulated goods vehicles. Please see below for an overview of each license type and the available training courses.

 

LGV – Large Goods Vehicle

To commence an LGV training course you will need

a provisional LGV Licence.

For this you must:

Be 18 years of age.
Hold a valid car licence.
Be certified medically fit.

The different categories of LGV Licence are listed below:

C1 – Rigid goods vehicle between 3500kg and 7500 kg towing a trailer up to 750kg
C1 + E – As for category C1 but towing a trailer over 750kg – total weight not more than 12000kg
C – Rigid goods vehicle over 7500kg towing a trailer up to 750kg
C + E – As for category C but towing a trailer over 750kg

PCV – Passenger Carrying Vehicle

To commence an PCV training course you will need a provisional PCV Licence. For this you must:

Be 18 years of age.
Hold a valid car licence.
Be certified medically fit.

The different categories of PCV Licence are listed below:
D1 – Minibuses with between 9 and 16 passenger seats towing a trailer up to 750kg
D1 + E – As for category D1 but towing a trailer over 750kg – total weight not more than 12000kg

D – Bus with more than 16 passenger seats towing a trailer up to 750kg

D + E – As for category D but towing a trailer over 750kg
All necessary arrangements including medical appointments and completion of application forms to enable you to obtain your provisional licence can be handled by our administrative staff.

Apply for a driver digital tachograph card

How to apply

You can apply online or by post to:

get your first GB (Great Britain) driver digital tachograph card if you currently live in England, Scotland, or Wales  renew a card if it’s expiring within 90 days, replace a lost or stolen card.

You cannot apply online if you’re exchanging a foreign tachograph card – apply by post instead.

You can only apply by post for the following:

  • to replace a damaged or faulty card
  • to change the name or address on your card
  • to get your first GB driver digital tachograph card if you currently live abroad/outside Great Britain
  • if you have a paper driving licence

If you need to change an EU, EEA, or Northern Ireland tachograph card to a GB tachograph card, you must apply by post. You must have lived in the UK for more than 6 months in the past year.

Report a lost, stolen, damaged or faulty card.

You must tell the DVLA immediately if your card is lost, stolen, damaged or not working properly.

You must also apply for a replacement card within 7 days.

It costs:

  • £32 for your first GB driver digital tachograph card
  • £19 to renew an expired card.
  • £19 to replace a lost or stolen card.
  • £32 to change an EU, EEA, or Northern Ireland tachograph card to a GB tachograph card.

  • a GB photocard driving licence (England, Wales, and Scotland)
  • your driving licence number
  • a credit or debit card
